Something New

Thanks for sharing Lynn!

As the water poured over, the heaviness poured too. Where did the summer go? Why did school have to start already? Is it really Zach's senior year and time for Mariah to start high school?

As quickly as those negative thoughts came, the Truth came...the choice is your's. You can dread the new day or you can embrace it. Think of all the little kindergarteners who won't be able to sleep tonight. Outfits laid out in the shape of litte bodies. Lunches packed with peanut butter and jelly. Backpacks with litte packs of Kleenex and washable marker. They are excited about their new start.

This summer I have been working through the Old Testament in my chronological Bible. There is a lot of history there; most of it not very happy history. A lot of disobedience. A lot of consequences. But right there in the middle of all that mess is this packed promise:
"I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws." Ezekiel 36:26 - 27 (NIV)

Something new! Completely independent of my circumstances; the receipt of it only dependent on the Lord and myself. He gives; I receive. How simple; only divine.

As I head out this morning to do the last of our back to school shopping, I'm asking for a new heart; a new perspective. Let me see things through Your eyes, with Your heart, Lord!

  1. Good thoughts. I love your new blog look. I have been so bad about blogging this summer, and I miss keeping in touch that way. Hopefully now I'll be more disciplined. HOpe all is well.
