I Have Another New Release!! Hearing Him: The Savior's Voice in the Book of Mormon

From the cover:

Do you recognize when God speaks to you? Are you able to find divine answers to the questions and challenges you face? In 2 Nephi 32:3, we are promised that when we "feast upon the words of Christ; . . . the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do." Latter-day prophets have declared that the Book of Mormon was written for us today. Its messages provide a powerful resource wherein we can hear the voice of God speaking to us. In Hearing Him, bestselling Latter-day Saint authors Diony and Trent Heppler invite you to join them in an exploration of the trials, triumphs, and moments of weakness throughout the Book of Mormon. They help readers see how the words of God are delivered directly to you. The intertwining narratives of ancient times, modern revelation, and personal supplication through prayer will strengthen your ability to discern the words of Christ as you relate them to your own life.

From the Authors:

It was Memorial Day Weekend in 2022, and we had taken a trip to the Ozarks in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, about four hours from our home. Neither of us had visited there before, and we were looking forward to a long weekend of relaxing and sightseeing. We enjoyed the charm of the town’s mountainside steep-winding streets and pathways, its Victorian architecture, and learning its history about the reputed healing waters of Basin Spring.

One afternoon, our sightseeing adventures took us to Branson, Missouri, about an hour northeast of Eureka Springs. We had purchased tickets for a live show, something Branson is famous for, but we had some time to spare before it started. In my enduring love to shop, and Trent’s patient willingness to make me happy, we found an eclectic group of antique and craft stores located under one roof where we stopped in to browse. One of the stores was selling books. While thumbing through a stack of biblical daily devotions, inspiration and ideas for this book began to form.

We hadn’t planned on beginning another book just a few short months after finishing our last one, God is With Us: How We Hear Him, but the prompting and feelings to move forward by continuing our focus on “hearing Him” grew. We love receiving direction from the Spirit, but sometimes when what He wants us to do isn’t easy—or in this case requires a lot of time and effort—it can feel daunting and overwhelming. However, we know from many past secular and spiritual experiences we’ve had, individually and as husband and wife, that He always provides a way.

President Eyring put it this way: “You show your trust in Him when you listen with the intent to learn and repent and then you go and do whatever He asks. If you trust God enough to listen for His message . . . you will find it. And if you then go and do what He would have you do, your power to trust Him will grow.”

We’ve both read the Book of Mormon several times before but would definitely admit we still have a lot to learn from its sacred pages. This time as we read it—specifically focusing on ways to hear God for ourselves, and seeking what He needed us to learn, understand, and share in this book—the experience was profound and wonderfully different. Our desire to study with greater commitment has increased, because through this experience, the Book of Mormon became more personalized.

Our love for the Book of Mormon prophets has grown—their faith, their humanness, their struggles, their courage, their endurance despite trials of many kinds, their love and sorrow for their families and brethren who turned away from God, their boldness of speech in declaring truth, their firmness to follow Christ. We could go on and on. All of them taught and inspired us in different ways.

As we have studied, read, and written what we’ve felt from specific scriptures that stood out during the compilation of this manuscript, the Spirit has been with us daily in greater abundance. Our understanding of the messages in the Book of Mormon has been enlarged as we’ve seen the scriptures through “new eyes.”

Noticeably, we have sensed a greater peace and light enter our lives on a consistent basis. The effect this has had on us individually and collectively has been a greater desire to be kinder, more patient, more forgiving, and more readily able to see the good in ourselves and others...
